For months I’d see requests for résumé writing help on LinkedIn. This seems normal but take nothing at face value. Fake résumé writers fail when asked basic questions. For their scam to continue they have to improve.
They’ll never go legit.
They can’t do anything else.
So, they figure out how to sound better when scamming people looking for work.
This is where service requests on LinkedIn are a goldmine for scammers. They simply put out a request for résumé writing help and they learn how to properly communicate based on the way real résumé writers message them.
They already steal résumé templates from real résumé writers and about sections, so the last piece of the puzzle is learning how to talk properly. Which brings us to the fake profile of "Sammie Moe."
He sent me a direct request for résumé help. Then tried to pitch me offering to help with my resume. I decided this would provide good intel, so I played along. You can tell by my messages I’m trolling him. As I knew within two minutes he stole Greg D. Trout’s picture hence my talking about being in real estate.
What you’ll see in the images are how this scam works and the way they try and talk unsuspecting job seekers into sending them their résumés.
